It's a work in progress like so many things in life and business and it will develop as I learn more about web design/building and social media which is challenging for any business but an essential tool to business now.
I am Andrew Adamson and I am the principal of Capital Coaching Consultancy.
I am a business or organisational or executive coach the labels are often used interchangeably.
I am not a business mentor or adviser.
Ideally a business mentor is one who knows your profession or industry and can help you develop contacts and develop your competency in the business.
Business advisers can be many and varied including accountants and solicitors and others, they may consult with you to build a social media presence or structure your business.
Me, I will coach you.
I am a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and train with the Institute of Executive Coaching and Leadership (IECL)
I work only as an Organisational and Business Coach providing on site organsational business or executive coaching in the ACT and Southern New South Wales.
What is Coaching
Coaching is a confidential process guiding the client through a set process of thoughts and questions to develop the clients insight into their business and behaviours. Coaching works on you being the best person to find the question and answers for your business. I am a sounding board where you can explore your ideas and reality test them.
I have been a lawyer in total for over 30 years in private practice for 14 years partly in Melbourne then in regional Victoria. I then moved into the Australian Army and remained as a legal officer for nearly 18 years in Military legal practice.
I am used to giving advice and analysing complex problems to provide advice. Those years of experience have taught me to listen and work with clients. Those years of work have invested me with some "common sense "and a sense of compassion and empathy.
I am interested in youth development and am a scout leader in my spare time.
Coaching is my way of changing careers by helping you change how you perform so we will both benefit and develop. we never should stop learning and growing new skills. When you stop learning or developing yourself at any age you will stagnate and fall behind your peers and competitors. You will loose the game winning edge. I will work with you to help keep that edge but also enjoy life which should be a goal for everyone.
I have undertaken coaching within Defence, and specific training in coaching techniques in Defence, and since leaving Defence, and continue to train and develop my skills.
I have worked within Defence HR, and in Defence procurement processes as well as a litigation and commercial lawyer so i bring a wide breadth of experiences and views. I have advised on or assisted in many varied Defence investigations and Inquiries and gained a lot of insight into people and behaviours as a result.
I am a current member of the International Coaching Federation. This membership is for you proof of my commitment o being ethical and also to undertake ongoing professional development and accreditation.
What do I do in coaching you?
Initially we will talk and work out if coaching is what you need and if I am the right coach for you. In many sessions I will listen and question you but I leave the answers up to you. As your Coach I provide tools and support that you as my client needs in order to succeed in the competitive marketplace. We work together letting you explore your goals and pathways to those goals in one on one sessions.
I listen and observe you as we discuss your goals and aspirations and help to refine those goals and define them as short medium and long term goals. We work together in hour long sessions at your site and over a period of several months. Achieving goals is not a quick process so sessions may be spread some weeks apart subject to your timetable and your dedication to your goals. II am happy to coach multiple employees in your company and will agree with you or your HR areas what coaching is to be undertaken.
You will work with me to find answers to the problems you face in business. Coaching is a confidential process and allows you to explore potential paths and test them in the coaching environment. How often do want to discuss an idea or explore an option and fear talking to others in your organisation may leave you open to criticism, or let the cat out of the bag too soon. You can workshop your ideas in a safe and secure environment knowing I adhere to the ICF code of conduct and ethics.
ICF Executive Coaching follows an established model designed to work through goals, realities options and then wraps up each session with a take away of things you have to work on. I will hold you accountable to reaching your goals and progressing to your goals.
